AHSC #36 - Girls Rock layout!

It is time for another entry in the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge and I decided to do another layout. I am loving how easily these sketches can be used for layouts or cards. I do want to apologize for the horrible picture, but I have literally been bed ridden for over a week now with Bronchitis and while taking a picture does not seem like a huge challenge, it is for me right now, I feel fortunate that I even got the layout done and pictured!

Once again I have featured our girls who we are in the process of adopting so for their privacy I have blocked out their faces.

Are you enjoying the different sketches you see each week? Why not join us? You can either enter each week or you can apply to be on the design team for a 6 month period and let your creativity grow! For more information just check out Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge

Happy Birthday - Claire

So I am a bit of a worry wart and as a result of this I am not always happy with my creative work and often times it does not feel worthy of being shown or in this most recent case of doubting my creative talents being done as a workshop card. I had a workshop this last Saturday night featuring some of the cards I have made and posted recently using the now retired Claire paper pack and one of them was just not sitting well with me, it is a very cute patchwork thank you card and there was really nothing wrong with it but it also did not teach anything new.

So, leave it to me on the eve of my workshop to come up with something completely new and from scratch and I am so glad I did. I was so happy with the results. I made this adorable (well that is subjective, but I think it is adorable) gift card holder with a band closure.

Here is a look at the inside of the gift card holder (like the card, the first thing I found was my husband's fishing license...think he would like a Bass Pro gift card in here? I think he would, he would not even notice the frilly outside...lol!)

And here is a close up of the band closure I did. The seam is behind the flower and the birthday stamp to hide it and provide the back a flush look.

I provide the guests at my workshops the ability to customize and change things up as they would like to, I let them customize the inside with a variety of birthday stamps and one participant even changed hers to a thank you gift card holder!

This is one time I am so glad I second guessed myself and changed things up at the last minute!

Thank you - Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge

It is a new week and new sketches are out. I am in week two of really challenging myself to do more cards and following sketches to step outside my comfort zone. This sketch is from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge and was a lot of fun to put together. Sorry for more Claire but I am really loving this paper pack, unfortunately I just found out is sold out. I am so glad I got mine ordered before it sold out. I really needed it (YES needed, not wanted) as it was a perfect match for some pictures of my girls taken at the beach last summer (photos of the layout to follow soon)!

And here is the sketch that inspired this card:

If you are looking to challenge yourself or just want to see some great artwork, check out the work by the girls at the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge You will be inspired by the great interpretation of the their sketches. I am hoping to get to the Mojo Monday sketch this week but with only 3 days of school left I need to get working on my teacher gifts ASAP!

Thanks a Bunch!

Since I have been feeling the creative mojo flowing again, I thought I would try my hand at a few challenges. As you saw from my previous post I did my first ever Mojo Monday sketch and I also made a card for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge (both cards in the same day, for me that is unheard of!)

If you would like to challenge yourself right along with me, check out the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge website. There is a lot of talented artwork out there and some awesome sketches. Click here for the :

All you need is love!

I decided to give the Mojo Monday challenges a try. I have been wanting to do them for a while but I finally got my Mojo back and created two cards today, I could not believe how easily they came together with the help of the sketches. This was the first of the two cards I made today.

I got some new goodies the other day from Close To My Heart and have been wanting to play with them so I broke them out as soon as I finished working on my daughters birthday party invitations (which will be posted soon).

Products Used (all products used are Close To My Heart):
Paper:
- Claire B&T's
- Card stock: White Daisy, Hollyhock, Outdoor Denim, and Sunset
Ink:
- Outdoor Denim and Hollyhock
Stamps:
- Girls Rock
Misc:
- Circuit Art Philosophy

I hope you enjoy the card. I had a blast making and it felt so awesome to get my Mojo back and how appropriate on the Mojo Monday challenge none the less!

Until next time, happy scrapping!
