H2H - No Fooling

With April Fools day right around the corner we are doing something FUN this week and we are challenging you to scrapbook something FUN...tough one this week huh! 

Since Spring just arrived and Easter is right around the corner I went with a layout of our girls and their cousins dying Easter Eggs on Easter. The kids had a blast with it and seeing who could make the coolest, prettiest, brightest eggs!

Oh Happy Day!

Hello Happy Monday to you!

This week we have a sketch challenge at Heart 2 Heart Challenges. I love the sketch challenges, of all the challenges the sketches are my favourite, I just love having a road map to throw together a quick card, layout or even a home decor project. 

This card was super easy to throw together and I used Claire (retired) for it as I was making a birthday card for my friends 7 year old daughter and how can you go wrong with Claire for a little girl. I also cut out the cupcake with my Cricut Artiste cartridge twice and stamped it in Sunset on one and Hollyhock on the other and pieced the two together to get two toned affect.

Just Because - AHSC 66

Sorry for the lack of art the last week or so, I was away on holidays with the family and did not have a chance to create anything or even get online much to blog anything. I am back and the munchkins are in summer camp this week and so I have a quiet house and some scrappy time on my hands. 

For this weeks Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge I have created this fun card using Lollydoodle which is sadly about to retire in just 2 days. I got this one late in the idea book and just now am getting around to playing with it.

Gone Fishing - AHSC #64

Here in Southern Ontario cottage season is in full swing. My in laws have a wonderful cottage that we are so very lucky to get to spend time at each summer and as a thank you for the great times we have there each year I made this card for them to thank them for their kindness and hospitality while we are visiting with them, we always have a wonderful time when we are there. 

Of course I used the sketch from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge (AHSC) to complete this card. The minute I saw this sketch I just knew Timberline was the way to go with it. Some sketches are super easy for me and some I struggle with, this was one of those easy ones. I had this card done in a matter of minutes.

Congrats! AHSC #62

First off I would like to apologize for the gap in my posting, some how life has complete escaped me lately and time has just flown by and I have not had a chance to get into my scrapbook room lately. Summer is finally here for those of us in Ontario and I am having a difficult time adjusting to the munchkins being home all day and getting into a routine...so bear with me while I get my routine down. 

Now for the good news, I am excited to announce I get to continue on both of my current design teams. I will be continuing on with Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge (AHSC) and Heart 2 Heart Challenges. 

My Card for today is for the AHSC #62. There is really no reason for this card, in other words it was not made for any one person in particular but I had a sketch and since I have a lot of birthday and thank you cards already on hand I figured I would do a congratulations card to mix things up some.

Snuggle Time - AHSC #59

It is time for another great sketch from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge! Once again I took the opportunity to get another layout done, YIPPEEE! I just love the feeling when I get pictures out of the box and into the scrapbook and while it is only one picture on this page, it is a layout and a memory preserved. 

This was a great memory, we were doing a family movie night at home one Saturday and one of our daughters climbed into my husbands lap to watch the movie and snuggle and then when things got a bit scary her older sister came over and joined in too. I just love seeing 2 of my 3 girls snuggling so contently watching their movie with their Daddy. It is these every day moments that I just cherish. 

I am so excited to announce that I have been asked to continue on as a member of the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. I was so thrilled as I was going into my last month of my 2nd 6 month term and I was going to really miss being part of the design team.

H2H - Rhapsody in Blue

This week at Heart 2 Heart Challeges the theme is Rhapsody in Blue and the goal is to Create a predominately blue project (bonus if you include a musical motif). As always I have a plan in mind when I see one of the challenges and 99% of the time that plan in my head gets tossed aside for something different as I begin. Today I was going to work on my hinged display tray that I got a while ago and had no where to put but as I began looking I remembered I had this bracket frame and thought it would look awesome on our new built in book cases. I wanted to use this saying that I found in the Silhouette online store because it speaks to me as we are in the process of becoming a forever family with our 3 girls we are trying to adopt. This will serve as a reminder to all of us that we are in this family thing forever and none of us are going anywhere! Also, like 99% of my projects I have a plan in my mind for what papers and colours I will be using and I had every intention of using way more blue but when I got putting it together it just would not work with my decor so I while the primary colour is not blue the focal points are blue and the most important words are blue...family and forever!

Everything on here is from CTMH with the exception of the saying, which I got in the Silhouette online store, it is from Kolette Hall. The paper is a retired paper pack called Grace.

Happy Father's Day - AHSC #54

This week at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge we have a very different and unique sketch for you and let me tell you it kind of rocked all of the design team when we saw it but we all agreed to step up to the challenge and out of our comfort zone! I spent quite some time thinking about this one and there are really so many ways you can go with it:

• Layouts - a layout with a picture on it...challenge done!
• Cards - any card with kids to colour or even animals. 
• Cards - put a picture of someone on your card (my initial thought a picture of my MIL and my girls for her Mother's Day Card)

That was just a few ways you could go with this sketch! I chose to be a bit different, I still have people on my sketch but I went with a Father's day card. I used the Artbooking cartridge to cut out the cute couple (representing me and my hubby) and then I cut it out again 3 more times in a smaller size. I surgically removed the men from the couple and added dresses to the girls (3 girls representing our daughters) and blinded them out with some pearls. I used an old tool that has not seen much action lately, my edge distressed. I saw it sitting in my distressing case while I was digging around waiting for the Cricut to finish its work and thought, lets give this bad boy a go and whoola! I used the Holdiay Tags set for the Happy Fathers day and stamped it in Pacifica ink. The paper pack is our retired Dakota (again, using up my scraps stash!)

While I may not be 100% in line with the sketch, that is the awesome thing, you can interpret it how you want...I saw people and added my family, my wonderful family of 5! My poor hubby, as you can see there are a lot of dresses and only one male in this...even our dog (not shown) is female....poor guy in oh about 6 years or so when we hit the tweens and teens

Clearly the Best: Create the Date (S02E11)

I love desk top calendars and the great thing with this is that is something you can start and add to, it does not all need to be done at one time and you can start it any time of the year, it does not need to start in January and end in December…it lets you be creative. 



I love my Artbooking cartridge and this is just another great, creative and fun project to work on. I can't wait to make my own…how about you?

Heart 2 Heart - Two faced challenge

Happy Monday! It is time for another great challenge from Heart 2 Heart Challenges. This week we are being Two Faced! Ok ok it is not as bad as it sounds, by being two faced, we were asked to use both sides of our patterned paper. Laughing lola is perfect or this challenge. 

This was actually a card that I had started and was struggling with it and walked away from it for a few days and came back to it today and it suddenly all came together. I need to learn more when to walk away and not force it.

Mojo Monday - 318

I felt the need to get my craft on today but I did not have a ton of time so I decided to check out the Mojo Monday challenge and see what type of sketch they had and I really liked it so I thought I would give it a try and see what I could come up with. It was so fun and easy to put together. I love the rustic feel of this card, it reminds me of a country Christmas. I would never have thought of using the burlap with the Frosted paper pack and but while looking for a different ribbon I saw it and thought...hmmm and low and behold it worked, at least in my opinion. I love this burlap ribbon. I think I might have to add this card to my upcoming Frosted work out.

Happy Birthday - Claire

So I am a bit of a worry wart and as a result of this I am not always happy with my creative work and often times it does not feel worthy of being shown or in this most recent case of doubting my creative talents being done as a workshop card. I had a workshop this last Saturday night featuring some of the cards I have made and posted recently using the now retired Claire paper pack and one of them was just not sitting well with me, it is a very cute patchwork thank you card and there was really nothing wrong with it but it also did not teach anything new. 

So, leave it to me on the eve of my workshop to come up with something completely new and from scratch and I am so glad I did. I was so happy with the results. I made this adorable (well that is subjective, but I think it is adorable) gift card holder with a band closure. 

Here is a look at the inside of the gift card holder (like the card, the first thing I found was my husband's fishing license...think he would like a Bass Pro gift card in here? I think he would, he would not even notice the frilly outside...lol!)

And here is a close up of the band closure I did. The seam is behind the flower and the birthday stamp to hide it and provide the back a flush look. 

I provide the guests at my workshops the ability to customize and change things up as they would like to, I let them customize the inside with a variety of birthday stamps and one participant even changed hers to a thank you gift card holder!

This is one time I am so glad I second guessed myself and changed things up at the last minute!

Life is Good!

As I have stated before, I tend to be my own worst critic when it comes to my creative endeavours. I am always thinking it is missing something, to simple, could use a bit of this or a bit of that and I usually torment myself for hours trying to come up with the perfect card / layout/ paper crafting project. But lately I am not sure if it is the really great sketches from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge or that I simply got my mojo back and it is sticking around, but whatever it is the cards I have been doing lately seem to be coming together so easily and I really like them, which again is unheard of for me.

Just Beecause Take 2!

I love the stamp set Pun Fun and I find myself constantly drawn to the Just Beecause for those times I need a card for well, just because. This card was inspired by Mary Gunn I loved her use of the negative space from a Cricut cut out. I cut the hearts out using the Cricut Art Philosophy and the flower was cut using the Cricut Artiste.

Hello Sunshine!

This is a fun card I made using the cover of our current idea book as my inspiration.  There are a few differences which I will point out.

The differences:

• On my card the sun rays were done using the Patterned Pennants stamp set. On the Idea book cover it  was cut out of Chantilly B&T papers.
• Instead of the row of flowers, I used a strip of Cotton Candy card stock to hide where all the sun rays came together. 
• I did use the same bow, cut from the the Cricut Artiste

Mini Album Madness

Time is not always on my side when it comes to scrapbooking and I do not create huge albums for anyone but myself but I do love making mini albums for all kinds of events and really for any reason. I have created mini albums for our girls as we were going through the adoption process to introduce them to our home, family, pets, and their new rooms, etc. I also created a mini album for my mother in law to take to her Nursing School reunion, it featured pictures of all her 3 sons pictured with their wives on one side of the book and then their children on the next page because lets face it, she is going to show off her kids and grandkids, why not let her do it in a beautiful way. Oh and she was the hit of the party with her mini album as everyone took their snap shots out hers were organized and paired with beautiful papers and everything was labelled as to who was who and ages and specifics about their lives. In the back I included snapshots of us just being a family and doing the things families do like birthdays, holidays, and of course vacationing at the cottage. I did not get a picture of this mini album (going to have to borrow it to snap some pics). But you get the idea, a mini album is a great way to remember special friends, trips, houses, pets, anything.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my blog today. It is Friday (YIPPEE) and we have survived another week, congrats one and all. Today's card is a Thank You card, next to birthday cards, thank you cards are some of the most used, outside of December when it is obviously Holiday cards. I made this quick and simple holiday card featuring our Buzz and Bumble paper pack for my March workshops. 

I tried something new to me on this card, if you look closely at the centre of the yo-yo where I have stamped Merci you will see that it is stamped in Sunset but looks a little dirty. It is not actually dirty, I inked up my image in Sunset and then I sponged some Cocoa around the edges and all around the stamp to create a bit of a tie die affect. It did not photograph very well but looks really cool in person. The fun thing about this is that you can make the affect as bold or as mild as you like, it is all personal preference.
